Medical Improv: How to Teach Effective Communication Skills

WHAT IS IMPROV?

So glad you asked!

Improv is the art of making stuff up. It’s theatre that has never been performed before (since no one thought of it until the moment they’re performing it) and will never be performed again (since there’s no way they can remember it well enough to do again).

Improv is the skill of “Yes, and.” Actors learn to role with the punches, agree with the craziness that comes their way, and add their own craziness to the mix.

Improv is the act of spontaneous creation. The skills can be practiced but the scenes can’t be prepared. It’s a wild ride.
